A vision statement is a picture of a preferred reality. Rather than describing what you do see it describe what you could see, inviting you to make this reality a bit more like that one. It’s a specific sight line and a particular range. It allows you to identify that which falls inside the vision and that which falls outside.Rather than an idea or personality motivating a community, the vision leads us forward, into the world of almost-but-not-quite-yet.The leader’s job is to hold the vision and invite others to see the world through its lens.
