We have also come to this hallowed spot to remind America of the fierce urgency of Now. This is no time to engage in the luxury of cooling off or to take the tranquilizing drug of gradualism.

We live in a society that uses Limited Goods theory on everything. We even apply this concept of lack to justice. But Dr. King refused to believe the bank of justice was bankrupt.
He shed light on the tranquilizing drug of gradualism. Maybe you’ve witnessed the use of this drug as a way of shutting down a movement, of shutting down your work, of shutting down you.
But history teaches us that it’s not a matter of time. It’s that America simply doesn’t know how to do this work. So it’s got to come from us. We’ve got to help America shift its focus and we’ve got to do it now.
