A Perfectly Tweetable Sermon

The very first Christian sermon was perfectly tweetable: five words and 21 characters long. It was delivered by Mary Magdelene when she ran from the tomb to tell the disciples, “I have seen the Lord.” The disciples, told more people, and then told more, and then the Holy Spirit fell at Pentecost and a movement, the church, was born.

Today, Mary probably would have checked in at the tomb, and shared the good news Facebook, Twitter, Vine, Snapchat, Instagram. A picture of the stone rolled away. A selfie with Jesus, who she mistook for a gardener. She would have told as many people as she could in all the ways that she could the good news that Jesus is risen, and so, we are made truly alive.
