A 2000 Pound Toddler

The Church (with a capital C) is reformed and always being reformed. She’s a 2000 pound toddler slowly learning how to walk.

Just look back through the archives of Church history. It’s filled with more than enough blunders and mistakes but overall a trajectory of love and reconciliation. The Church today doesn’t always behave the same way she did yesterday, thanks be to God.

And I pray that the Church tomorrow continues this trajectory, opening her doors with a radical welcome, embracing the world with a revolutionary love.

What will the Church look like ten years from now? I don’t know, but I’m excited to find out and I’m with her every step of the way.

Are you under 40? Take the Transformative Church survey now.

  1. What are some of the “blunders and mistakes” you’ve seen the church make in your lifetime or throughout church history?
  2. Do you think that the Church is on a trajectory of love and reconciliation? Why or why not?
