The Sunrise Is A Myth

We call it a “sunrise” even though we know that the sun isn’t actually moving. When you’re born into a world already in motion, riding this 1000 mile an hour roller costar becomes a skill we didn’t even know we had acquired.

We become so used to something that our language fails to reflect what is actually happening. And to some extent, I think that’s ok. Because it’s not always about asking the questions, “What actually happened?” It’s about discovering what people think actually happened and the impact those cultural interpretations have on the world around us.

While we may have left the myth of a flat earth behind, we still hold onto the mythical language of a sun that rises and sets around our static world and our earth-centric view of reality.
