The level of injustice against Marissa Alexander is stunning.
The fact that she was strangled by her husband in front of her two sons is absolutely unacceptable.
And the fact that her shooting a licensed gun as a warning shot into the ceiling was seen by our legal system as warranting a stronger conviction than if she had actually shot him is just pure insanity.
We cannot and must not tolerate this level of abuse nor the flimsy excuses used to perpetually justify it.
Dr. King said that our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter.
Let us not be ok with this deafening silence.
