Just Keep Running

Touch my toes. Shake out my legs. High knees, high knees, and lunge, lunge, lunge.

Pause for a moment. Eyes up guardian. Then one foot out, followed by the other. Step. Step. Step.

Land on my toes, spring off my heel. Stretch out my long legs but not too long of a stride. Lean forward, especially up a hill.

No headphones. The only soundtrack is the sounds around me, the echo of my feet below me, and the constant pings of the ideas racing through my head.

Every step, an invitation to be present — present with the world around me, present to the world within me.

Step, step, step.

Breathe, breathe, breathe.

Just keep running.

  1. What do you do to be present?
  2. Have you ever gone running without headphones? Why or why not?
