You Gave Me Room

A reflection on Psalm 4:

You gave me room.
rather than a wise word or a quick fix
you gave discomfort a place
in the warm breeze
we hung garments of grief
alongside
faded whites, stained underwear, + the colours of celebration
all of it
dangling in plain view
embarrassed and uncomfortable
I wanted to bring it in

but you reassured me
and in your gaze I saw Tibetan prayer flags
and I caught a fragrant waft
of “Fully Alive + Bravely Human.”
And I was hooked.
