“Revolutionaries do not make revolutions!” wrote Hannah Arendt in 1970. “The revolutionaries are those who know when power is lying in the street and when they can pick it up.”
While it is easy to see injustice lying in the street, whether it’s standing outside our front door, printed on the front page of the paper, or captured through the lens of a cellphone camera, may we also have eyes to see power lying in the street and the courage and conviction necessary to pick it up.
May we be the revolutionaries we’ve been waiting for who help create the world we want, the world we so desperately need.
