I Repent

I’m a racist.

I talk of community and connection to the whole of humanity while simply only engaging those who look, talk, and think like me.

My life does not reflect the diversity I say a desire to know and experience.

I’ve taken for granted the systems and institutions, the principalities and powers that are all slanted in my favor.

My complacent acceptance of this reality has led only to my own personal benefit. And my silence only confirms the continuing of the status quo.

This is why I can no longer say I am not a racist.

Of these things I repent.
