The Gospel of John opens with an epic callback: “In the beginning.”
This “new” creation continues to speak of a word, a divine spark, a life that was the light of all people. This light was in the world and though the world was made through it, the world did not recognize it.
We can travel this world and still miss the God who is beneath our feet the entire time.
May we be like Jacob who awakes from his uncomfortable slumber to discover God beneath the rock he had called his pillow. For God is in this place, even if we don’t yet recognize it.
