It’s been an amazing time for LGBTQ folks around the world. Marriage equality is the law of land in Ireland now. And hey, we can’t count our Supreme Court justices until justice is really hatched, but it’s likely the U.S. will embrace marriage equality in time for the most colorful of celebrations of freedom ever seen under the rainbow.
We have to remember that queer kids are at risk all over America, that anti-gay discrimination is still alive and well across the land, and that homosexuality remains criminalized throughout much of the world.
We have to keep our eyes on the prize that is the freedom to be who you were born to be, wherever you live.
Still, LGBTQ communities have every reason to celebrate loud and proud this year. Let’s not give up our rejoicing, but let’s make our songs proud prayers of justice for all.
