Could the inverse be true? I say the study of words connects the two modes—whether through composition or recognition, we practice the art of the phrase.

We punctuate our senses with the tenor of the consonant plucked against the dulcet tones of the vowel. Yet it is no simple commitment, to invest in the art of the phrase, rather it is with the discipline of a devotee one joins with the world of texts. Both to write and to read, these are the postures of our craft.
