Embracing The Other

I’m thinking about embracing the other.

I think in this day and age where there is a lot if immigration, empire building, colonialism, we need to think about how we treat one another. In so many cases here in the United States and elsewhere, we treat those who are different from us, those who look different, who speak differently, who eat different foods, have different names, and we treat them as a foreigner or as the other.

I think if we are to live in Christ, understand that the Spirit is within us, among us, and around all of creation we need to be able to learn to love one another and to embrace one another.

I think it’s a transformative spirit of love that can come within us, among us, and allow us to embrace the other.

  1. Who is the “other” in your life? In what ways are you the “other”?
  2. What difference would embracing the other make in our world?
