November 9

To all my American friends:

I am highly disappointed, shocked, sad, and I don’t know how this election might affect my annual US trips.

In Germany, November 9 is called “A Fateful Day.” It is also a remembrance day.

November 9, 1918: November Revolution
November 9, 1923: Hitler’s first violent attempt to become president.
November 9, 1938: Night of the Broken Glass where thousands of Jews were killed, deported and their housing and businesses were destroyed.
November 9, 1989: Fall of the Berlin Wall

Well, and now? Now November 9 marks for the world the realization that Donald Trump is president. And I really hope that this does not make history in a bad way.

  1. How do you think history will remember November 9, 2016?
  2. In your own words, what impact does the US President have on other countries?
