Left Behind

Left Behind

The words “left behind” bring two distinct images to mind. First, an unfortunately popular Series of fiction books that too many people mistake for non-fiction. Second, the education legislature that promises no child will be left behind.

While many might say that these two “Left Behind” connotations have little to do with each other, I would beg to differ. For they both paint a picture of someone’s hope for the future. And they both remind us that we live between this “already” and “not yet.”

For while we are not waiting the day when we will escape this world – instead we should be living to reshape this world – we do have children left behind, no matter how loudly any legislature say no child should be. And so we live here and now, advocating for the education and rights of those find themselves left behind.
