The internet has always existed. It’s simply gone by other names. The internet isn’t a thing so much as it is a metaphor, the latest iteration of the way in which we are interconnected. It’s a digital library, a world wide town hall meeting, an endless choose your own adventure.

What this latest iteration has done is tear down the walls between the metaphors we call “nations,” throwing a bucket of cold water on the lines we draw in the sand. The internet is that which perpetually exposes every “us vs. them” dichotomy as the “us vs. us” reality it truly is.
