The word “inspired” literally means “to receive breath” or “to inhale.” As a Christian pastor I often find myself talking about what it means to be “inspired by the Holy Spirit.”
This seemingly abstract theological phrase is actually quite literal. The Holy Spirit is simply a divine breath, a cosmic energy, and to be inspired by this breath and energy is to stop and breathe, to find yourself empowered by an energy beyond yourself and a breath that sustains you whether you are aware of it or not.
So if you’re feeling stuck or need an idea, stop and breathe. Because what happens next could be simply divine.
