Divine Image-Bearers

In our divided world, we label each other. Christian or Buddhist? Liberal or Conservative? And these labels often don’t serve us well. They make it easier to demonize others, entrenching us in an us/them, either/or mentality.

But that’s not the way the story of the Abrahamic faiths begins. Our story begins with human beings made in their Creator’s image and called good — profoundly human representations of the Creator, holding all the potential variety of humanity.

Revolutionary love transcends labels to reveal us as Divine image-bearers, deserving of love and compassion.

  1. Why do you think we are so prone to label one another?
  2. What does it mean to you to be a divine image-bearer?
