Identity Politics & Capitalism

Are identity politics possible apart from capitalism? Or does one exist only to serve the other?

You are who you are, regardless of the label you hold or are given. Because every category too quickly becomes a caveat for capitalism, a label that comes with a price tag, turning people into products and picking the perfect product for people everywhere.

Identity politics simply become a marketing scheme. There’s no such thing as Men’s Face Wash. Skin is skin and soap is soap. But we package a product for a specific population of people knowing they will now down to worship the gods of global capitalism.
