The Hatred And The Holy

Five hundred white supremacists with guns gathered outside the mosque. Hate and venom spewed out of their mouths as Muslims tried to enter their holy place and pray. I stood with about five hundred other people of faith between the hatred and the holy.

Two nights later we gathered again. Whereas the skinheads had brought their guns, that night we brought flowers. Jew, Christian, and Muslim together, in one place of sacred worship, a glimpse of what the divine imagines is possible when people of faith come together in love.

  1. What do you think it would feel Like to stand between the hatred and the holy?
  2. How have you experienced people of different faith traditions coming together in love?
