In his book I Kissed Dating Goodbye and it’s sequel Boy Meets Girl, Josh Harris presents the idea of courtship as a replacement for the secular notion of dating but it’s actual definition is nebulous at best. He presents courtship as a model in which a couple is more than friends but less than lovers which is a balance I’m not sure any couple in history has ever struck for long.
As a 21 year old man in I Kissed Dating Goodbye, he presents all the reasons why young Christian men and women should keep one another at arms length and in Boy Meets Girl a few years later impresses us with his sudden happy ending. How one is supposed to find their own happy ending between the two is anybody’s guess.
