We Have Lost The Gospel

When words replace love and action and dogma replaces concern over humanity, we have lost the gospel.

It is much less risky to make a hollow declaration about where one stands on an issue than it is to enact the salvation story through the sweat on our brow, the calluses on our hands, and the thin fabric on our knees.

In our frantic pursuit of believing just right we run the risk of missing the good news. God’s steadfast love and mercy ask more of us than this.

Gospel is and always has been good news to the poor, release to the captives, sight to the blind, freedom for the oppressed, and the Lord’s favor upon all.
