I Am Not A Good Girl

I am perpetually surrounded by what I am supposed to be.

Here society says, “You should dress like this. Good girls wear this sort of clothing, they have these sorts of jobs. Good girls aren’t interested in those sorts of things. Women of the church act like this. Oh, you wanted to participate. Well, are you any good?”

My head was so filled with what others thought that I finally screamed out, “I am not a good girl!”

Then I took a deep breath. I closed my eyes and said to God, “Have thine own way.” And I realized it was more important for me to follow God than to be good.
