You’ve got a problem your trying to solve, an idea you’re trying to express, a conundrum that needs your creativity. You open up your favorite web browser and pause for a moment before firing away in Google’s ever-inviting search box.

What do you search for? How do you go about articulating this idea and solving this problem?

Here’s a tip: don’t search for specific answers to your precise problem. Open yourself up to the general fields of thought. Listen to a symphony, read some poetry, get lost in Tumblr, read some fan fiction. Approach your search broadly and generally until you surprise yourself with a moment of insight and something uniquely specific.
