You’ve Got To Be Kind

“God dammit, you’ve got to be kind.”

God bless you, Mr. Rosewater. Kurt Vonnegut gave us a gift when he wrote you into the pages of our lives.

It took you eight words to peel back two millennia of theological reflection and reveal of what it means to walk in gospel-centered responsibility to one another, to remind us that the presence of God is like fruit on a tree, to call us to taste and see that the Lord is good, that one bite will flood our senses with love, with joy, peace, patience, goodness, kindness, faithfulness, gentleness, self control.

Anything less than this is not the gospel and if this is ever found to be the case then God dammit, we’ve got to be kind.

  1. What does it mean for you to walk in gospel-centered responsibility?
  2. Love, joy, peace, patience, goodness, kindness, faithfulness, gentleness, self control — which of the fruits of the spirit do you resonate with most and why?
