Be Free Where You Are

Today we reflect on that which makes us human. We reflect on where we’ve come from and where we are going. From dust we came and to dust we shall return.

Perhaps it is our mortality that makes us most human. We spend our time creating things with the hope they will outlive us, pouring ourselves out into babies and books, people and projects, all as a way to deny the reality that we will not be here forever.

But rather than focusing on the legacy we hope to someday leave, we ought to focus on the life we can live here and now. From dust we came and to dust we shall return, but right now, in this moment, you are alive.

Be free where you are.
