A while ago now Barnes and Noble started creating bookstores where browsing and reading was expected. Not just excepted, facilitated. They took an experience that previously involved a quick quest, sale, and exit, and turned it into a space for exploration and discovery.
As church we have always understood scripture, physical sacred space, and Christian community as a place for exploration and discovery of what God is doing in our lives and in the world.
Our sanctuaries, biblical interpretation, and welcoming need to be constructed to facilitate that experience.
