There’s a story in the book of Mark about a woman who had been bleeding for 12 years who was finally healed after she touches the fringe of Jesus clothes. At first glance this seems to be a story about a woman who is finally healed. But from another angle this story is about a community that is finally made whole.
For twelve years this woman had been pushed to the margins of her society and declared to be unclean. But on this day a miracle happens: the community sees her as fully human, wholeness is restored, and everyone belongs.
I hope that miracles like this continue to happen in our world today.
