Diversity In Motion

Sometimes I ride the subway and keep my phone in my pocket. No podcasts. No Candy Crush. I just stand here, my eyes open to see, my ears open to hear, my body open to feel.

I see every diversity a person can encounter, all pressed together like a group of kindergarteners playing soccer, a moving mass of bodies organically huddled together as they try and kick the ball.

And it is the combination of this diversity in motion that sparks my creativity, putting me in someone else’s shoes as I realize that there is so much more to the world than just me, there are so many more stories than just mine, there is so much suffering and celebration and the most creative and most human thing I can do is stretch my empathy and make space for the people around me.

  1. How do you stretch your empathy?
  2. What sparks your creativity?
