The Politics Of Radical Difference

Pride is such a complicated season for the LGBT movement. We’ve grown to celebrate our difference relative to sexuality in parades and parties, but we have also assimilated into the neoliberal logic that supports capitalism.

While Pride happens all throughout this month, let us remember the politics of radical difference that motivates our sexual freedom and commitment to dismantling systems that seek to undermine our work of destabilizing the heteronormativity that has framed our movement. We need a community of difference to do this!

  1. In your own words, what does a community of radical difference look like?
  2. How can you dismantle systems of injustice and work to destabilize heteronormativity?
