Dichotomies

In queer communities I don’t like to share that I’m Christian because I don’t want to add to the trauma that queer people have felt at the hands of Christians. In Christian communicates I tend to assume not everyone is safe until shown otherwise. This means I don’t get to be my authentic self very often.

In Christian communties I also have to watch people debate whether or not I should be invited to the table. This is frustrating.

Finally, as a bisexual Christian married to a straight cis man, I’m often assumed to be straight. This means I often feel invisible.

I think God calls me to help bring down these dichotomies as somebody who lives between straight and gay and Christian and queer.

  1. When was a time you felt torn between two dichotomies?
  2. When was the last time your authentic self was stifled?
