The Sterilization Of Death

CPE has taught me that death is not just a moment when everything turns off. It’s about pain, loss, family, regret, celebration, and more.

However, we don’t want to, let alone know how to talk about death because we’ve significantly shifted the way people die. We have moved death from the home to the hospital and in doing so we have removed the topic of death from our life.

We have turned death into an even greater unknown that has no place in life, exiling it to the sterile “out there” rather than the personal “close to home.”

We are evolving to avoid death at all costs, and in doing so we are evolving to avoid our humanity.
