Breaking Bread

Consider the importance of the table and every amazing interaction over time. Enemies have become friends, families have grown closer, diplomats have made life changing decisions, and most important, Jesus broke bread. He broke bread with sinners like you and sinners like me.

Jesus used the table to level humanity and show that love and grace were not only possible, but freely available. He did this through simple but life changing conversation. Jesus used this physical space to show that the rich and the poor, the weak and the strong, the oppressed and the oppressor were all one.

May we take this bread and may we take this cup and forever remember his sacrifice to make us one with him.

  1. In your own words, what is the importance of the table?
  2. What does it mean to be “one” with someone you don’t always get along with?
