Those made poor are invisible, expendable. Women are at constant risk. People of color are in the crosshairs of even those, too many of them, sworn to serve and protect. Prisons are 21st century plantations. Love has boundaries inconsistent with the wonder of God’s creation.
So how dare we hope. The message of the cross is foolish.
