After nearly four years with a beard I shaved.
Nothing about me changed but everything had. The community around me would affirm that they appreciated the change while at the same time countless conversations started with the phrase that “something just wasn’t right about me.”
Though these were innocent comments made by friends, left to my thoughts I have had to consciously and continuously remind myself who I am.
What we affirm in others matters. Are affirming who they really are or simply who we want them to be?
