Where is the good news in Second Kings? Well, it’s certainly not with the kings. It’s not with the faithless masses who followed them either.
Thank God for the prophets and their supporters, for Elijah and Elisha, the Shumamite woman, Isaiah, Huldah, they speak the truth, heal the sick, give fair warning, wise counsel, and occasionally call down fireballs to destroy their enemies.
But on the whole they rest easy amidst foolish leaders and the people who would do their bidding. And they seek always the will of God.
- In your opinion, what does it mean to seek the will of God?
- How do you find good news in a bleak situation?
