The Death Of A King

The death of a king. Prior to death, David selects Solomon. As with stories of Kings and men, there are challengers, marriages to keep peace, and the rise and fall of men.

The Lord grants Solomon a discerning heart: a true mother is chosen, and a Temple built. An unfaithful Kingdom is split. Prophets, Elijah and Elisha, are sent to the Israelites.

Failed kings follow failed kings, only to be wiped out by the Assyrians. Judah is all that is left. Faithful Kings are followed by wicked men. The Babylonians destroy the Temple and send God’s people into exile.

  1. If you were one of the prophets sent to Israel, what would you say to the people?
  2. What do you think it was like to be ruled by a faithful king? By a wicked king?
